The birthstone for November is Citrine.
The name is derived from its yellow coloring. “Citro”
is a French word for lemon. They come in a light yellow to dark
yellow and can have an amber or golden-brown coloring. Iron is
what actually causes the yellow color. They are a member of the
quartz family and sometimes are confused with yellow topaz. When
looking to buy a citrine the key is to a look for a rich yellow
color.
Citrines have been found in Madagascar, Brazil, Spain, Argentina,
Russia, Burma, and Scotland. It has even been found in North Carolina.
Many colored gemstones have legends, myths, and healing properties
associated with them. Legend has it that citrine is a stone than
has the ability to awaken the mind, create clarity, and increase
knowledge of the self. It is suppose to aid in digestion and eliminate
toxins from the digestive and endocrine system. *
Citrines are a fairly inexpensive birthstone. At Americus Diamond
we have citrines mounted in earrings, pendants, and rings. If
you have a special someone with a birthday in November visit our
showroom and let us help you find that perfect gift.
* The healing properties of gem stones are highly subjective
in nature. Americus Diamond does not mean to imply that the healing
property of gem stones has been scientifically proven.
